Five Pairs Of Cosy Pyjamas For Slow Mornings And Early Nights

I love nothing more than when its finally time for pyjama season… especially after the intensity of the summer heat we had this year. When the weather turns colder, the joy of getting into PJs at 9:00pm to curl up on the sofa and read a book is a daily ritual I look forward to with gusto. Once darkness begins to descend earlier, I take it as a sign that it’s time to go deeper into hibernation mode and make the most of evenings spent at home. Which I’m not ashamed to admit is pretty much every evening and that’s how I like it.

Something about the act of getting dressed for bedtime a bit earlier puts me into the best kind of pre-sleep mindset – if the pyjamas are on by 9:00 than you can guarantee the eyes will be getting heavy from 9:30pm onwards. Try it if you haven’t already - it works! I also associate them with slow weekend mornings - if I don’t get to spend Saturday or Sunday (but preferably both) in my PJ’s until at least 10:00am, I feel deprived of rest and relaxation. Don’t rush me when I have coffee in hand on the weeeknd!

I used to be a strictly neutrals and stripes kinda gal but these days I like my PJs to have a bit more personality. If you offer me a pair in a blue Toile fabric you know my answer will be yes – same goes for Gingham too. Unless I’m in a really cold climate, I don’t sleep in them all night… because menopause – although I think this Nightshirt by Yard would be a cover up contender if a cover up were required. Pyjamas are one seasonal slow-down staple I refuse to be without and if I was given a pair at Christmas every now and then, I wouldn’t be mad about it. [Side note to Santa… choose the Gingham…]

Header image features PJs from one of my favourite brands - The White Company. This is the classic cotton sateen stripe set that I used to have - H has now claimed them!
